Myakka River State Park

The Ringling

Experience the legacy of John Ringling circus magnate and visionary. This magnificent mansion houses the country’s foremost collection of Baroque art, with works by Rubens and other great masters, together with its unique collection of circus memorabilia, which includes rare carved circus wagons.

Solomon’s castle

Visit the home and studio of internationally known sculptor, Howard Solomon. The Castle, built by the artist’s own hand, contains galleries of his art and more than 80 interpretive stained glass windows. The Boat in The Moat, also built by the artist, is a replica of a 16th century Spanish galleon and houses the Castle’s restaurant.

Gamble Plantation Historic State Park

The Judah P. Benjamin Confederate Memorial at Gamble Plantation State Historic Site serves as a memorial to a way of life and an economic system that existed before the War between the States. Gamble Mansion is the only surviving antebellum plantation house in south Florida.

Busch Gardens

A unique blend of thrilling rides, one of the country’s premier zoos with more than 2,700 animals, and nine themed areas based on encounters with the African continent all help to provide unrivaled entertainment for guests of every age.

Mote Marine Laboratory

Observe more than 2000 species of fish, see endangered sea turtles and manatees, look a shark in the eye, touch a horseshoe crab. The Aquarium allows its visitors to get a unique close-up view of sea creatures and the living reef, which they inhabit.

Jungle Gardens

Lush tropical vegetation, banana groves, hibiscus gardens, tropical birds, flamingos, and peacocks, all roaming free amongst the palms and exotic plants.

Big Cat Habitat

A non-profit safe haven for big cats, bears, and native wildlife. World-renowned educator and behaviorist Kay Rosaire and her son Clayton present training demonstrations with their rescued big cats in an educational forum.
